What We Carry

By the square foot (cut to order), by the roll, or by the half pallet / pallet.

Order Ahead

Since we cut your sod fresh for your order, planning a day or two out is the reason your grass shows up green and alive instead of tired off a shelf. Tell us your day and we'll have it cut and staged.

Which grass is right for your yard?

The right sod comes down to four things: how much sun the spot gets, how much foot traffic it takes, how it drains, and how much upkeep you want to do.

01

Lots of sun, kids and dogs running around? Go with Bermuda, Tifway 419. It loves full sun and bounces back from heavy use — solid for a busy backyard or a front lawn that bakes all afternoon. It wants mowing and sun to stay thick; not the one for shady corners.

02

Want a thick, fine-bladed lawn that stays low-fuss? Look at Cavalier Zoysia (thin blade). It grows dense enough to crowd out a lot of weeds and asks for less mowing once it fills in.

03

Got some shade, or a spot that takes a beating? Palisades Zoysia (wide blade) handles part shade better than most warm-season grasses and stands up to traffic — a good all-rounder for a mixed sun-and-shade yard.

04

Sandy or acidic soil, and you'd rather not fuss? Centipede, Common is the low-input choice — happy in the acidic soils common around here and doesn't need much feeding.

Still on the fence? Snap a photo of the area or tell us how the sun tracks across it, and we'll point you to the grass that'll thank you for it.

How much do I need? (a quick example)

Measure length × width in feet for each section and add them up, then add about 5% for the pieces you'll trim around curves, walks, and beds. A 20 × 30 ft yard is 600 sq ft, plus 5% ≈ 630 sq ft. Then choose how to buy it — by the square foot for bare spots and odd shapes, a roll for a small patch, or a half pallet / pallet for a whole lawn. Not a fan of math? Give us your measurements and we'll turn them into rolls or pallets.

From the Yard

Laying it + the first two weeks

Sod is forgiving if you get two things right: good contact with the soil, and water.

01 Prep first. Clear weeds and debris, loosen the top inch or two of soil, and rake it smooth and level. Lightly damp soil helps roots grab hold.
02 Lay it tight. Start along a straight edge, butt each piece snug against the next — tight seams, no gaps — and stagger the ends like brickwork. Trim to fit with a sharp knife.
03 Water right away. Soak it the day it goes down until the soil underneath is wet. For the first two weeks, keep it damp with a light watering once or twice a day. Once it knits down, switch to deeper, less frequent watering.
04 Go easy at first. Stay off it as much as you can, and hold the first mow until it's rooted and standing tall.

Get through the first two weeks and you've done the hard part.
